Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 1, 2026 · Last updated: September 1, 2026
Applies to trustedsteer.com and related TrustedSteer online properties serving consumers in the United States.
TrustedSteer (“TrustedSteer,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates an informational and marketing referral website. We are not an insurance company, insurance agency, or insurance broker. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard personal information when you visit our site or submit a request.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
When you use our lead or contact forms, you may provide:
- Identifiers such as name, email address, and phone number
- Location information such as ZIP or postal code
- Optional vehicle details (for example, year and make)
- Any other information you choose to include in a message or form field
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, we may automatically collect:
- Device and browser type, operating system, and approximate region derived from IP address
- Pages viewed, referring/exit pages, timestamps, and general interaction data
- Cookie and similar technology identifiers used for analytics, security, and (where applicable) advertising measurement
2. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- Respond to your requests and facilitate connections with third-party partners
- Operate, secure, and improve our website and services
- Measure performance of content and marketing campaigns
- Communicate with you about your request or about our services, where permitted by law
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms
- Detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, abuse, or security incidents
3. How we share information
We may share information as follows:
- Partners and referral recipients. When you submit a form seeking insurance-related information or a quote path, we may share your submitted details with one or more partners in our network (including insurers, agencies, or related service providers) so they can respond. Partner availability varies by location and request type. See our Partners directory for organizations that may participate in our network.
- Service providers. Vendors who host our site, provide analytics, email/SMS delivery, fraud prevention, or customer support, under contractual obligations to protect data.
- Legal and safety. When required by law, subpoena, or governmental request, or to protect rights, safety, and security.
- Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate confidentiality measures.
- With your direction. When you ask us to share information or otherwise consent.
We do not sell personal information in the traditional retail sense. Some U.S. state laws define “sale” or “sharing” broadly to include certain advertising or cross-context behavioral advertising disclosures. Where those laws apply, you may have rights described below.
4. Marketing communications & TCPA notice
If you provide a phone number or email and consent to contact, partners or TrustedSteer (or service providers acting on our behalf) may contact you by telephone call, text/SMS, or email using automated dialing systems or prerecorded/artificial voice where permitted, regarding insurance or related offers. Message and data rates may apply. Consent is not a condition of purchasing any good or service. You may revoke marketing consent by following opt-out instructions in a message or by contacting us (and, for partner contacts, the partner directly).
5. Cookies and similar technologies
We and our providers may use cookies, pixels, and local storage to remember preferences, understand traffic, and measure campaigns. You can control cookies through browser settings; disabling some cookies may affect site features. We do not currently respond to every browser “Do Not Track” signal in a uniform way because no industry standard has been adopted.
6. Data retention
We retain personal information for as long as needed to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, including providing services, resolving disputes, enforcing agreements, and meeting legal, tax, or accounting requirements. Retention periods may vary based on the type of data and applicable law.
7. Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children’s privacy
Our services are directed to adults seeking auto insurance information. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 where a higher age is required by law). If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
9. Your privacy rights (U.S. state laws)
Depending on where you live (for example, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws), you may have rights to:
- Request access to or a copy of personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate personal information
- Request deletion of personal information, subject to legal exceptions
- Opt out of certain “sales,” “sharing,” or targeted advertising, where those terms apply under state law
- Appeal a decision we make in response to a privacy request, where required
- Not be discriminated against for exercising privacy rights
To exercise rights, email privacy@trustedsteer.com with “Privacy Request” in the subject line and sufficient detail for us to verify and process your request. Authorized agents may submit requests where permitted by law; we may require proof of authorization and identity verification.
California notice (CCPA/CPRA). Categories of personal information we may collect include identifiers, commercial information related to your inquiry, internet/electronic activity, and inferences used to improve matching. We collect this information from you and from automated technologies on our site. We use and disclose it as described above. We do not knowingly “sell” or “share” the personal information of consumers under 16.
10. Third-party sites
Our site may link to third-party websites or services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. We encourage you to review those policies before providing personal information.
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date will reflect material changes. Continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy where permitted by law.
